Zibi Moves: Active Living in the Heart of the National Capital Region

At Zibi, sustainable One Planet Living isn’t just an ideal—it’s a way of life. From car-free commuting options to community bike rides, our residents enjoy a lifestyle designed around low-carbon transportation, vibrant public spaces, and seamless connections to the region’s top trails and transit.

Here’s how we’re promoting an active lifestyle for our residents, visitors and employees!

Let’s Bike: Every Ride Counts

Zibi is proud to once again sponsor Let’s Bike, a month-long cycling celebration hosted by EnviroCentre that encourages people to ride their bikes not just to work, but everywhere. Now in our fifth year of support, we’re more excited than ever to get the community rolling.

The idea is simple: ride your bike, log your trips at letsbike.ca, and you could win daily prizes. It’s a fun, community-building way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and save money—just by pedaling.

This year, we launched a Zibi team and challenged ourselves and our residents to collectively ride 1,000 km in June. So far this month, 15 Zibi employees and residents collectively rode over 2,600 kilometers, averting 337 kg of GHG emissions and saving $2,500 in gas!

We’re also adding a little friendly competition: Zibi community members logging the most kilometers will win prizes from Dream/One Planet Living. First, second and third place get bragging rights and a reward!

Bike Maintenance Workshop & Community Connections

On June 10th, Head Street Square was transformed into a cycling pit stop with a free Bike Maintenance Workshop, hosted by EnviroCentre and Quick Cranks. This event sold out fast and we are hoping to host more events like this in the future. Check out the photos from the workshop!

To keep the momentum going and the people moving, we launched a Zibi Biking Group in our online community Mighty Networks. It’s a space for riders to connect, propose group rides, and swap tips.

Breweries by Bike (Back This Fall!)

One of our most popular past events will be making a return this September: Breweries by Bike, a scenic ~30km group ride with stops at local breweries. It’s exactly what it sounds like—good bikes, good brews, and even better company.

Zibi’s Bike Station: Tools at the Ready

Zibi is committed to helping its residents and visitors successfully commute by bike. To this end, Zibi has installed a new bike maintenance station, located next to Zibi House (on the parking lot side). It’s fully equipped with:

  • A repair stand and tools
  • An air pump
  • A wash station

Plus, there are repair and pump stations throughout Ottawa and Gatineau, so support is never far away.

Transit & Car-Share: More Ways to Move

Of course, active transportation at Zibi doesn’t stop with bikes:

  • We’re steps away from STO and OC Transpo routes and a quick walk to the LRT
  • We are connected to the Ottawa River Pathway, Voyageurs Pathway, and steps away from Gatineau and Ottawa’s downtowns
  • We have the Communauto car-share service in Gatineau, and coming very soon in Ottawa, which makes it easy to go further when needed—minus the cost (and emissions) of ownership.
  • And we’re paying attention to the conversation about bike-sharing in the region and exploring options for Zibi—stay tuned for updates!

At Zibi, Active Living is Built Right In

Living at Zibi means having everything you need to live well—and move freely—without depending on a car. Whether you’re biking to brunch, riding with coworkers, or tuning up for a brewery loop, you’re part of a community that’s redefining what sustainable urban life can look like in the National Capital Region.
