Creating a socially connected community – One person at a time
As Zibi continues to grow with new residential buildings and more commercial tenants, its singular focus on creating a vibrant and socially connected community has only intensified with the addition of numerous shared spaces and activities for residents and visitors on the site.
Let’s have a look at how this intentionality manifested itself by the numbers in 2025:
55,000 people visited Zibi in 2025 for one of its many events and pop-up markets

2,600+ kilometers were ridden by Zibi employees and residents during Let’s Bike month, averting 337 kg of GHG emissions and saving $2,500 in gas

1,500 residents attended the many social events organized by Zibi, including the Fall Harvest event, Brewery by Bike social, summer BBQ, holiday get-together, and many more

1,000 people are now living at Zibi as renters or owners

500 people are now working at Zibi on either side of the Ottawa River

400+ residents and visitors enjoyed the Dance at Zibi events this summer

300 visitors and residents attended 2 Repair Cafés, offered by the Ottawa Tool Library

150 people attended the lovely Twilight Symphony at Zibi event in the Fall

65 pop-up markets and events were held onsite in 2025 attracting neighbours and visitors to shared spaces while supporting local merchants and vendors

5 urban community gardens produced more than 160 edible plant varieties

The number 1 predictor of health and longevity is social connection, and that is why Zibi is so focused on creating a place that makes it easy – and even encourages – people to meet and connect with one another.
Zibi’s 2024 One Planet Living report showed that 81% of Zibi’s residents knew at least one neighbour, exceeding the target of 70%. That is but one small indicator of the success of Zibi’s social connectivity efforts.
Stay tuned to see what else Zibi has in store to bring the community together in 2026!
