Ottawa, January 27, 2016 – Gatineau City Council has approved all of the development conditions related to the Zibi re-development project in downtown Gatineau. It has also approved Phase 1 of the redevelopment project. With this, Windmill Development Group and Dream Unlimited have the green light to proceed with Zibi construction on the shores of the Ottawa River.

Zibi’s first phase of redevelopment includes the construction of two new residential buildings on the riverfront as well as the restoration of three existing buildings for commercial and office use.

“It’s clear to us the important role Zibi will play in helping Gatineau revitalize its downtown riverfront,” said Rodney Wilts, Partner, Windmill Development Group. “With this vote of confidence from Gatineau City Council for our project, we are in a better position than ever to deliver on our vision for a world-class, sustainable riverfront community in the heart of Gatineau and Ottawa.”

Remediation on the site is already well underway. Construction of the residential buildings will begin this spring. Restoration on the three existing buildings is set to take place over the coming year.
